A pilot trial of the course “Responsible PhD: Integrating Responsible Research and Innovation in PhD Research” has taken place at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) on the 12th and 26th February 2018, within the framework of the HEIRRI International Pilot Institutions.

The aim of the course was to introduce PhD students different concepts of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) and reflect on how to make a PhD research project more responsible. The training was divided in two sessions. During the first session, PhD students discussed several concepts of RRI in groups through different activities and case examples. During the second session, participants presented their research projects and identified with the feedback of the participants possibilities to make their own research project more responsible.

The course ‘Responsible PhD: Integrating Responsible Research and Innovation in PhD Research’ counted with the participation of 15 PhD students, all of which came from various fields of research (medicine, environmental sciences, history, sociology, law, psychology, computer science, chemistry).
